Research Interest:
My research is focused on the use of modern digital air photos
to monitor changes in land covers and to study its dynamics
and its patterns in the last 50 years. We create past, present
and potential maps of bird species and plant species, specifically
related to non forest habitats. We are interested in geographic
patterns and the dynamics of terrestrial patterns biodiversity
(hot spot), fire risk distribution and the effect of climate
change in these patterns and dynamics. We also study the relationship
between biodiversity persistence, increase risk of fire, open
habitats patterns/dynamics, land ownership and management and
road networks. Therefore Geographic Information System (GIS)
is a very interesting mapping tool that enables geographic or
spatial data capture, storage, retrieval, manipulation, analysis
and modelling.
